Spring Sports Begin at BHS

At Bartlesville High, spring sports are about to begin this weekend, as a whole new batch of athletes will begin their seasons in golf, track and field, soccer and baseball.

David Ayers will begin his first season as head track and field coach, taking over for Bon Bennett, who retired from that post in May of 2018. Terry Hughes is back as girl’s golf coach, retaking a job he held for several years in the past. Aaron Kuntz and Vladan Glavonic will stay as girls’ and boys’ soccer coaches.

And Austin Jarvis will begin his first season as Bruin head baseball coach this weekend. Bartlesville is scheduled to begin its season on the diamond on Friday at Tulsa Edison, and then have its home opener on Saturday against PC West at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium.

BHS should have a veteran presence this season. Noah Yearout, Harold Borg, Calvin Johnson and others will headline the main returners this season. Dakota Ward and Bryce Weathers will be a couple move-ins that will bolster the Bruins depth. Jarvis talks about Ward, who might be the most prominent new name.

Ward will likely be a standout pitching and at the plate.

We will have more on Bruin baseball as the season is set to begin this weekend.
