There are just a few days before a big battle between two Osage County rivals on the football field.

Pawhuska and Barnsdall will meet for a scrimmage on Friday. That is the first, and final tune up, for both the Huskies and the Panthers before real games begin on August 25.

At Pawhuska High, numbers of playres going out for the team has been an issue for second year head coach Joe Tillman.

The Huskies hope to have about 30 guys out for the squad when school begins. The team is still heavy on underclassmen, with the sophomore class representing the largest number of players. Here is Tillman talking about his sophomores.

Aside from the stellar sophomore class, senior running back Brian Jeffers will likely lead the way for Pawhuska on offense. It appears that Sophomore Cade McNeil will start at quaterback on Friday.

McNeil is one of three sophomore quarterbacks that Tillman will look to in 2017.

The Huskies open up the regular season at home against the Kellyville Ponies. You can hear Pawhuska football this season on Sports Talk 99.1 FM – KPGM and online at BartlesvilleRadio.com.

And  Tillman will be on the air live on Saturday, as he will be on hand during KWON’s annual high school football preview show.

It is our Coach’s Breakfast Broadcast from the Heritage Theatre Café and Pub in Dewey. That will air starting at 7:00 Saturday morning on AM 1400 and FM 93.3.
