Several Dewey Pass Catchers Making Early Impact

The Dewey bulldoggers suffered their first loss of the 2020 season last Friday against a much-improved Vinita team. The Doggers saw their potent offense silenced after briefly holding the lead in the second quarter.

While the trend of early season wins stopped another trend continued—junior Jacob Mouser catching a touchdown. The wide receiver/tight end has found the end zone in each of Dewey’s first three games on the season. Head coach Trent Turner has seen vast improvement from Mouser in several different ways.

Mouser isn’t the only pass catcher having a great year for the Doggers so far. Dallas Mullikin (168 yards, 2 TD)and Jack Davis (246 yards, 1 TD) each have 13 receptions a piece through three games. Running back Corbin Buford has been a frequent target out of the backfield as well. Even senior Fisher Goode who has spent more time at defensive back in his career led the team with six catches last Friday.

Dewey will open district play with No. 6 Adair on Friday. The Warriors beat Dewey in the 2019 opener and in the first round of the playoffs last season. We’ll have more on this game throughout the week.

You can listen to Dewey on Friday night on KRIG 104.9 FM. Coverage starts at 6:30 p.m.
