Scrimmages Up Next for HS Football

High school football is starting to get a little more serious across Northeast Oklahoma, as clubs will be getting ready for their first action against other schools this week.

Many teams in the area will be playing their only scrimmage of August toward the end of the week. Others will have their first of two scrimmages.

At Bartlesville High, the Bruins are getting set to travel to Broken Arrow for a scrimmage on Thursday. This is the first of two scrimmages for BHS. Bartlesville will take on Coweta as a part of the Broken Arrow Kickoff Bash. Tulsa Edison and the BA JV team are the other squads involved in the four-way event. BHS will kick things off at 6:00 PM.

Tulsa Edison will come to Custer Stadium in Bartlesville on August 23, also a Thursday, to wrap up the scrimmage portion of the schedule for the Bruins.

First year head coach Lee Blankenship was the main speaker on Saturday night at the Samaritan Sports Spectacular. Blankenship talked about his journey to Bartlesville, his faith and the purpose of coaching. Blankenship left Beggs High School, the Class 3A runners up a season ago, to lead the Bruins. He talks about that choice.

Bartlesville will kick off the regular season on the road at Claremore on August 31.

We will carry every Bruin game this fall on KWON – AM 1400 and FM 93.3.

We have a downloadable and printable Bartlesville High football schedule available online as well underneath our Scores and Schedules Page, along with Dewey, Nowata, Pawhuska, Owasso and others.
