Bartlesville High basketball finished out its home stand with another couple of losses on Friday night at Bruin Field House, as two good Sapulpa teams topped BHS.

On the ladies side, a quick Lady Bruin start quickly faded away, as Bartlesville fell to the Lady Chieftains 61-46.

BHS (6-10) led by as many as seven points in the first quarter, but a scoring drought in the second quarter cost them the game.

The Lady Bruins only scored one point in the final 6:15 before halftime, and BHS trailed by 12 at the break. Bartlesville played even with Sapulpa in the second half, but could never mount a serious comeback. This early three-ball from Chloe Martin gave Bartlesville one of its largest leads of the night.

BHS has dropped three in a row on the girl’s side.

For the Bruin guys, it was all Sapulpa from the start. The Chieftains topped the Bruins 71-33.

Bartlesville had an early 5-0 lead, but Sapulpa would make four of its first five three-pointers, and force BHS into 12 first-half turnovers.

Bartlesville (1-15) would trail 44-20 at the break. The Bruins would cut the lead to 18 in the second half, but could get no closer.

Things don’t get easier for BHS on Saturday evening, as both Bartlesville teams take on Booker T. Washington in the BOK Center Showcase in downtown Tulsa.

The Booker T. girls are the No. 1 team in the state, while the Hornet guys are the No. 3 team in Oklahoma, sporting two Big 12 signees in Bryce Thompson to KU and Trey Phipps to OU.

This is the third game in a brutal stretch of the schedule for the Lady Bruins, who have played three top-11 teams in the state in consecutive games. Head coach Donnie Martin says this will be good preparation for the playoffs later on this month.

Tip from the BOK Center at 6:00 for the ladies, 7:30 for the boys on KWON and KWONTV.com
