Sandites Sweep Bruins

It was a clean sweep for Sand Springs over Bartlesville in the first road contests of the season for the Lady Bruins and Bruins on Tuesday night.

Both teams went through long scoring droughts that made comebacks tough.

On the girl’s side, BHS lost to the Lady Sandites 66-48. Bartlesville went behind 12-0 after not scoring until under three minutes to play in the first quarter, the Lady Bruins could never get out from under that deficit. Three of the last five losses for the BHS girls dating back almost two years have now been to Sand Springs.

On the guy’s side, the Sandites pulled away in the second half to win by 22, 64-42. The game was close until the final 10 minutes. The Bruins went almost eight minutes without a point from late in the first quarter until 20 seconds left before halftime. BHS went into the break down by nine. Five-points is as close as Bartlesville would get in the second half, it was on this Shane Simpson steal and bucket.

Both BHS clubs now face a big double-header at home against Bixby on Friday night.

That will be Throwback night in the old gym at BHS. More on those games later on this week.
