Ponca Spoils Bartlesville Homecoming

The Bruins clawed their way back, but couldn’t get their first district win against Ponca City on Friday night.

The Wildcats spoiled Bartlesville’s homecoming, beating BHS 14-12.

The Bruins (0-5) trailed 14-0 entering the fourth quarter when things got interesting at Custer Stadium. BHS scored on back-to-back possessions on passes from Noah Sunday to Bradley Crawford, but a missed PAT followed by a failed two-point conversion gave the Wildcats the two-point winning margin.

Ponca (1-4) led 7-0 after a fourth-down and 16 conversion early in the second quarter. The Wildcats tacked on their second touchdown following three Bartlesville turnovers.

Two Bruin fumbles and one interception gave the Wildcats enough extra possessions to score the eventual game-winning score midway through the third quarter on a Justin Andrews quarterback sneak.

Bartlesville is off on Friday, the Bruins next host Sapulpa on Oct. 13 at Custer Stadium.
