Pawhuska Works over Winter Break

Winter break is nearly over - the holiday season means an extended break for many area basketball teams, but not Pawhuska this year.

The Huskies guys have started to hit their stride entering Winter Break. Pawhuska has won three of its last four prior to Christmas. The Huskies last game was a 47-40 win over a 3A club in Newkirk.

The only loss for Pawhuska in that span was an overtime game to Barnsdall, the Panthers are undefeated in Class 2A.

Head coach Jake Christenson says he was excited about the way his team has played going into the holiday, and because of that, Pawhuska might be working a little harder than usual over the break.

The Huskies did not start their season until the final week of November. Many times in Class 2A the season starts a week earlier than that, which has led to the Huskies playing only 11 games thus far in 2018-2019, they stand at 6-5, overall.

Pawhuska will host Dewey for its first game out of the break on Friday. The Bulldoggers are off to a tough start to begin the season at 1-6.

We will have that game on the radio for you Friday night on Sports Talk 99.1 FM – KPGM.

More on that game and others coming up on Friday later this week.
