Pawhuska Wins Have Community Buzzing

There won’t be a football game this weekend for Pawhuska High School, but that probably won’t stop the community from talking about Husky football.

Pawhuska is still one of the best stories in Green Country, going from 0-10 last season, to a potentially playoff bound club in 2018.

The Huskies finally got a signature win this past Friday, and it was over a rival at that. The Huskies topped Hominy 44-38 in a battle. Pawhuska had gotten out to a big lead before Hominy tied the game in the fourth quarter – only to have the Huskies rebound for a six-point win.

The victory keeps Pawhuska in the thick of a crowded playoff picture in Class A District 5. It also gives the Huskies a win over one of their biggest rivals – and it ended a long streak of losing at Ormond Beach Stadium. Pawhuska head coach Matt Hennesy explains.

The Huskies are off for a bye-week for week No. 8 They do not play again until Friday, Oct. 26th when they take on Langston Hughes. Pawhuska is still buzzing about this past weekend’s win. Hennesy says it is a great time to be involved with Pawhuska football.

The Huskies only have two games remaining, the next game against Langston Hughes, and then a season finale against Pawnee.
