Pawhuska Needs to Bounce Back vs. OKU

High school football playoffs are here - and some rematches from earlier this season will decide a couple local contests -one of them in Osage County, as Pawhuska will host Oklahoma Union for the second time in 2019.

The Huskies lost their first game of the season this past Friday, as Pawnee shocked Ormond Beach Stadium with a 46-40 win.

Pawhuska fell behind 34-6 early in the third quarter, but down by 28-points, the Husky offense came alive, and battled within six points twice down the stretch.

The comeback fell short, but Pawhuska head coach Matt Hennesy says that loss was perhaps exactly what his team needed.

Because of the loss to Pawnee, the road to a Class A Gold Ball may get a bit tougher going forward for Pawhuska. If PHS were to win its first round game against Oklahoma Union on Friday, it is likely that a second round matchup on the road against undefeated Stroud would be looming on Nov. 22.

First thing is first against the Cougars.

A 7:00 PM kick from Ormond Beach Stadium we will air Pawhuska football on 99.1 FM – KPGM. A 6:50 pregame.

We will have more on previewing that game, including some from the Oklahoma Union side, as the week moves on.
