Pawhuska Football Improving Quickly

Pawhuska football is quickly becoming one of the best sports stories throughout the area early in the 2018-19 season.

The Huskies went from winless to winners in just a matter of months under head coach Matt Hennesy. After not winning a game in 2017, and winning only two games in 2016, Pawhuska is 3-2, and finds themselves in a battle for a playoff spot in the staunch nine-team Class A District 5.

There are no seniors on the team either, ensuring that almost all of this year’s production will return next season.

The Huskies are coming off their most impressive victory yet, a 36-18 win over Barnsdall on the road this past Friday. Hennesy says that beating capable teams like Barnsdall is the next step in his program’s turnaround.

Pawhuska gets back on the field Friday against another team that is likely playoff bound, as the Huskies take on Tonkowa at home.

Tonkowa is 4-1, with three blowout victories in district play.

That will be a 7:00 PM kick off from Ormond Beach Stadium. A ballgame we will carry on 99.1 FM – KPGM.
