Oklahoma Wesleyan advanced to finals of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament for the second consecutive season after taking care of Ottawa, 96-88. The win marked the 30th for OKWU this season.

The Eagles erased an eight-point halftime deficit and ultimately took control of the game down the stretch. K.J. Malveau scored 24 points and Isaak Rowe finished with 23 points in the victory.

OKWU will now turn its focus to No. 6 Southwestern, the Eagles opponent in the conference finals for the second straight year. Last year the Eagles destroyed Southwestern, 84-64, to take home the conference crown. OKWU center Josh Wilchcombe dominated in last year’s game with 16 points, 19 rebounds and six blocks.

The Eagles also clinched this year’s KCAC regular season in an instant-classic over the Moundbuilders on Feb. 16. Jake Feickert’s last-second layup gave the Eagles the 97-95 double-overtime victory. Southwestern beat the Eagles on Jan. 7, one of just two losses all season. OKWU has won three of five matchups of the last two years, two of which were won on the final possession of the game.

Monday’s championship game is set for 6:00 PM. at Hartman Arena in Wichita.

Radio coverage can be heard on KWON AM 1400—FM 93.3 or Sportstalk 1500 AM—99.1 FM KPGM starting at 5:45 p.m.
