OKWU Sweeps Bethany On The Road

Oklahoma Wesleyan basketball completed it’s first road sweep of the season against Bethany on tuesday night. 

Starting with the women’s team who topped of the Swedes 64-56. The Lady Eagles were led by Tiffany Rieger who had a game-high 19 points. The victory marks the fifth in a row the Lady Eagles who are now in the top-tier of the KCAC, just one game off the lead at 6-2.

The men’s team was able to snap a three-game skid with 72-62 victory over a depleted Bethany team. The Swedes came in to the game missing their top two scorers. 

The Eagles dominated from the jump storming out to a 13-4 lead in the first four minutes. The lead at one point extended to 24 points early in the second half. However, a late comeback attempt from Bethany brought the lead down to seven in the final minutes. Though the Eagles were able to seal the game with a solid performance on the free throw line.

Joshua Wilchcombe had a monstrous performance in just his second game of the year with 14 points and 17 rebounds. That rebound total is the most anyone has registered in the KCAC this season. 

OKWU is now 10-5 overall and 4-4 in league play. 

Both sides will be in action on Friday for a home non-conference bout with Kansas Christian.
