OKWU Softball Hammers Haskell

Oklahoma Wesleyan University Lady Eagles softball team picked up a couple of wins by sweeping Haskell 11-0 and 24-1 Wednesday afternoon at Bartlesville.

In the first game, the Lady Eagles scored in every inning including four runs in the first and second innings, two runs in the third, and one run in the fourth.  OKWU out hit Haskell 9-3.  Jenna Daniel picked up her 13th victory on the mound to improve to 13-9.  In four innings of work, Daniel gave up two hits and struck out eight Haskell batters.  Hannah Sharum went 2 for 3 at the plate.

In the second game, the Lady Eagles waisted no time by hamming Haskell with 24 total runs. OKWU scored 10 of those 24 runs in the bottom of the second to run-rule Haskell.  As a team, the Lady Eagles out hit Haskell 18-1.  Mykelti Sheldon got the win on the mound to improve to 2-0 for the year.  In three innings of work, Sheldon gave up a run, one hit, walked three, and struck out two.  Katelyn Cook hit two homeruns and finished with 7 RBI's.  Caitlyn Day went 3 for 5 with a homer and 3 RBI's while Mayan Meza Tovar went 3 for 3 with two doubles and 3 RBI's.

With the victories, the Lady Eagles are 25-19 overall and 13-4 in MCAC play.  OKWU is back in action Thursday afternoon as they will travel to Winfield, Kansas to take on Southwestern College.
