OKWU Softball Continues Hot Streak

The Oklahoma Wesleyan softball team has found a nice groove recently as they’ve won five of their last seven contests. The Lady Eagles are currently in the fourth spot in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference with an 8-4 record.

OKWU has thrived offensively as it has posted a .309 team batting average. That mark jumps up to .338 during the conference season. OKWU head softball coach Caty Reeves says her team has benefitted from a change in approach.

Freshman Ashley Stone’s .491 average not only leads the team, but it’s also the top mark in the KCAC. Last week Stone went 6-11 with eight RBIs at the plate. That was good enough for her to earn the KCAC Player of the Week honors for the third time this season.

The Lady Eagles will play road doubleheaders on back-to-back days with Kansas Wesleyan on Wednesday and York on Thursday.

OKWU is 20-15 on the season.
