OKWU One Win From World Series

Oklahoma Wesleyan baseball now finds itself one win away from the NAIA World Series after defeating second-seeded Freed-Hardeman, 8-3. The Eagles were able to avenge two losses to FHU last season which ultimately ended their 2018 campaign.

The Eagles rode solid pitching to Tuesday’s victory over the regional host. Tyson Cronin worked into the ninth inning while allowing just three runs. The right-hander ultimately tired out after 126 pitches. Landon Williams recorded the final two outs of the contest.

Offensively, Drenis Ozuna and John Lantigua combined to lead the OKWU offense once again. Ozuna hit a two-run home run in a five-run fifth inning that blew the game open.

OKWU will play at 5:30 on Wednesday against the winner of FHU and Texas Wesleyan. That elimination will be played at noon. If the Eagles are victorious they would qualify for the NAIA World Series for the second time in three years.
