OKWU Basketball to Battle with Southwestern

Oklahoma Wesleyan basketball will face a major challenge with Southwestern coming to Mueller Sports Center for a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The No. 16 Eagle men’s team has a long-running rivalry with the Moundbuilders.

Since Donnie Bostwick’s return in 2017, OKWU has won three of seven games against Southwestern. The average margin of victory in all of those contests was a mere six points. The Builders took round one in overtime back in December. Southwestern trails OKWU by three games in the KCAC standings. These teams split the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles in each of the last two seasons.

The Lady Eagles have a rare game where their record is better than the opponent. The women’s team has battled through the toughest portion of its schedule. Despite going up against the best lately, center Essence Tolson was played spectacularly. Tolson is averaging 13 rebound per game over the four contests. Head coach Grace Hadley had high praises for her.

The doubleheader will tipo at 3 p.m. from the Mueller Sports Center in Bartlesville. Radio coverage can be heard on Sportstalk 1500 AM—99.1 FM KPGM.
