The Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles earned a split on Wednesday night in conference doubleheader against Bethany.

In the women’s game OKWU fell to Bethany, 62-44, in a poor offensive performance.

The Lady Eagles came out of the gate going shot-for-shot with the third place team in the conference. Sarah Short had six points in the opening quarter and OKWU led 18-16 after one exciting quarter of action.

However, the Lady Eagles struggled mightily after that as they would score single-digits in both the second and third quarter. OKWU couldn't find anything on the offense end shooting just 23% from the floor.

Not one player tallied double-figures in the loss. The Lady Eagles fall to 12-7 in conference and move back to a three-way tie for second place.

The men’s game went the opposite way entirely. The Eagles jumped out to an early against last-place Bethany and never looked back, winning 96-67.

OKWU set a blistering pace early getting out to a 32-11 lead by the eight-minute mark in the first half. The Eagles forte was outside shooting as they knocked down nine of 12 three-pointers before the break.

Isaak Rowe was a human highlight reel in this game. This dunk got the crowd buzzing in the second half.

The Swedes put up a fight early in the second half. OKWU saw its eighteen-point lead shrunk down to eleven, but they would follow that with a 24-6 run over the next six minutes of action.

Five OKWU players totaled double-figures in the win. Joshua Wilchcombe had his sixth double-double of the year tallying 17 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks.

With the win and a Southwestern loss the Eagles pull within one game of first place in conference with three regular season games remaining.

Both OKWU teams will be in action on Saturday for a KCAC doubleheader against Tabor College.
