OKWU Basketball Splits At Ottawa

The Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles made a trip up north to Ottawa and came back with a split. 

The Lady Eagles continue to roll as they win their third straight conference game roping the Lady Braves, 54-51. The win propels OKWU to 4-2 KCAC play OKWU used its bench depth to gut out a victory in game where it didn’t play its best basketball. The bench outscored the starters 32-to-22. Cheyenne Been was the top scorer off the bench with 11 points. Danae Goodwin hit a three-pointer with under two minutes left that sealed the deal for Oklahoma Wesleyan.

The men’s dropped another back-and-forth battle in heartbreaking fashion. The Eagles held a seven point lead with five minutes to go in the first half, but then were held scoreless for the next four minutes and went in to the locker room trailing, 36-to-33.

The Braves stormed out to an eleven point lead early in the second half. The Eagles pulled with one possession multiple times but could never regain the lead. They fell by a final of 87-to-82. -- K.J. Malveau had a career night with 31 points, but it wasn’t enough as OKWU drops to the 3-and-3 in conference.

Both teams will be back at it on Saturday afternoon with a doubleheader against Southwestern Christian from the Mueller Sports Complex in Bartlesville.
