OKWU baseball swept Southwestern Assemblies of God University on Tuesday afternoon in Texas during a non-conference double-header.

The Eagles won 12-1 and 15-11. Oklahoma Wesleyan has now won 17 of its last 18 games. The Eagles tallied 25 hits combined over the course of the two wins.

They got home runs from Chris Tapia, Juan De La Cruz and Austin Sojika. The win moves OKWU to 26-3 on the year. Oklahoma Wesleyan was at No. 4 in the country, up one spot, in the latest National NAIA Coaches Poll that came out on Tuesaday afternoon.

The good news started early on Tueasday, as for the third time in the last four weeks the Oklahoma Wesleyan baseball team had a player named the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week. This week’s award goes to senior outfielder Ryan Lujan.

Lujan was a force at the plate in the Eagles 23-4 walloping of Tabor College. He knocked two home runs and drove home seven runs, while scoring three himself. Lujan would follow that up with another home run in the second game of the series along with four more RBIs.

In total, Lujan went 9-for-15 with three home runs and 13 RBIs on the week. Lujan has recorded multiple hits in 12 of the 28 games he’s played in this season. He went 0-4 with four runs scored in the double-header against SAGU.

OKWU is next in action at home against Bethany in a three-game conference series starting on Friday in Bartlesville.
