OKWU Baseball Plays Ottawa in Final KCAC Series

Oklahoma Wesleyan baseball looks to stay hot with a weekend series at Ottawa. The No. 12 Eagles already clinched the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season championship and a bid to NAIA National Tournament with a series sweep over Southwestern last week.

OKWU head coach Kirk Kelley says this weekend will be a great opportunity to get playing time for some guys that don’t normally see the field.

The Eagles have seen their starting pitching log incredible innings with the 20 complete games in 45 contests this season. Kelley says it’s great to see his starters do this work. However, OKWU has just six pitchers who have made more than five appearances this season. An opportunity for additional arms to get conditioned before next month’s national tournament will be essential.

The Eagles are currently 36-9. OKWU will play a doubleheader at Ottawa on Friday at 1 p.m. followed by a single game at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
