The quest to repeat as Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference baseball champions fell short Sunday afternoon as Bellevue University stuns sixth ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles 11-10.

OKWU got off to a good start by scoring three runs in the top of the first inning and two runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 5-0 lead.  But the Bruins had something else in mind.  Bellevue scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth innings and four more runs in the bottom of the sixth to take an 8-6 lead. The Eagles came back scoring three runs in the top of the seventh when Zair Koeiman hit a three-run homerun and regained the lead 9-8.  Bellevue tied the game in the bottom of the seventh, thanks to a solo homerun by Osvaldo Gonzalez.  After shutting out OKWU in the top of the eighth, the Bruins took back the lead, thanks to two costly errors by the Eagles, and took an 11-9 lead.  OKWU started their comback by a solo homerun by Koeiman, but it wasn't enough as Bellevue won the championship game.

The Eagles used three pitchers.  Elpido Martin took the loss in pitching over two innings of work, giving up two runs on two hits and walked one.  Koeiman had a huge day at the plate, going 4 for 4 with three homeruns, a double, and 5 RBI's.  Avery Flores went 3 for 5 while Brandon Cummings went 2 for 5 with 2 RBI's.  Jeff Butler went 2 for 5 while Austin Murphy, David Espinoza, and John Davenport each got a hit.  Both teams had 15 hits a piece.
