OKWU Baseball Fall To OCU In Slugfest

Two top 10 NAIA baseball teams battled in a slugfest at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium Tuesday afternoon as #3 Oklahoma City University won 22-21 over #6 Oklahoma Wesleyan University.  Here's some game totals: 43 runs, 49 hits, eight home runs, six doubles, a triple, 42 RBI's, and eight errors.  OCU out hit the Eagles 49-43.  RBI's favored the Stars 22-20 and finished with six home runs.  Three of those home runs came from one player, J.J. Bissell.  Both teams used four pitchers. 

The Eagles took a 4-0 lead going into the top of the second when the stars scored six runs to take the lead for the first time.  OKWU would tie the game at six by scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth.  OCU had an 18-11 lead going into the bottom of the eighth when the Eagles scored 10 runs to take a 21-18 lead.  The Stars came back and scored four runs in the top of the ninth and held on with the victory.  OKWU's Elpido Martin came in the ninth and blew the save, giving up three runs on three hits. 

Zair Koeiman had a huge day at the plate.  He went 4 for 6 with two doubles, a triple, a home run, and 5 RBI's while Brandon Cummings went 3 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 5 RBI's.  David Espinoza went 4 for 6 with a double.  Austin Murphy and Will Price each had three hits while Jeff Butler and Avery Flores had two hits.  John Davenport and Brice McCulloch each got a hit.

With the loss, the Eagles are 40-10 overall this season.
