Amid preparations for the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament, Oklahoma Wesleyan baseball snatched headlines as all-conference honors were announced.

After winning the conference in the regular season it’s no surprise that the Eagles were all over the list. First team All-KCAC selections include Hunter Henry, Austin Sojka, John Lantigua, Ryan Lujan-Leonard, Tyson Cronin and Kyle Fimbrez.

On the second team were Nick McGrew, Rylee Peterson, Colton Kelly, Ryan Sandifer and Landon Williams. Last year’s conference and national player of the year, Chris Acosta-Tapia was named an honorable mention.

Cronin was also named as the KCAC’s Pitcher of the Year. He led the nation’s top staff with a 1.21 ERA and a 10-1 record in 13 starts.

Head coach Matt Parker took home Coach of the Year honors after leading the team to its third straight season of 40 wins or more.

The Eagles will start play in the KCAC tournament on Wednesday with a frist round matchup against Ottawa. OKWU just swept the Braves in a three-game home series last weekend that included a no-hitter from Fimbrez.

The four-day event takes place in Great Bend, Kansas. First pitch is set for 11:00 a.m.
