Oklahoma Union football is heading into a new era as first-time head coach Stephen Trammell is taking over the reins. A 4-6 campaign left the Cougars on the doorstep of a playoff appearance in 2017.

Trammell will be keeping some things the same and he’ll make some changes as well. The Cougars will add a couple of new twists defensively but will stick with the same base 3-3-5 scheme instituted by the previous coaching staff.

Offensively, Trammell wanted to keep his system a secret for now. However, the Cougars will be straying away from the triple option as their primary set he says.

Oklahoma Union does lose tailback Casey Armstrong who broke several records last season. However, much of the roster will remain intact as the Cougars will be on the hunt for a playoff appearance in 2018.

Much more on area football teams in preparation for the fall in the coming days and weeks.
