Nowata Tallies First Victory

In a medieval battle between two winless teams, it was the Nowata Ironmen who picked up their first win in nearly two years.

The Ironmen were hot from the very begnning and never trailed, beating Chelsea 33-6 on Friday night at Nowata Ironmen Memorial Stadium.

First play from scrimmage, and first play in the game, Nowata went deep and connected for a touchdown.

The fireworks would continue in the first quarter for the Ironmen, as they went 55-yards in two plays to get their biggest lead of the season 13-0.

Chelsea (0-5) would respond to the second touchdown by Nowata (1-4), but would miss the PAT themselves to cut the Ironmen lead to 13-6.

Skylar Thornton would throw his second touchdown of the day on tipped pass caught in the endzone by Garrett Keuhler.

That is as close as the Green Dragons would get. Nowata had the halftime lead 33-6. And there would be no points scored in the second half.

Max Gross' final call on KRIG 104.9 FM, as Nowata wins.

Nowata will next travel to Salina on Friday.
