Nowata Takes On Davis For 2A Football Title

The Class 2A State Football Championship will be on the line at Stillwater High School tonight as #4 Nowata Ironmen will take on top-ranked and defending state champion Davis Wolves.  This is the first trip to the state title game for Nowata since 1999 when Fairview defeated the Ironmen.  There's no secret that Davis is a running team and according to Nowata Head Football Coach Matt Hagebusch, tonight will be an old-fashioned football game.  Davis is 14-0 and is coming into tonight's game after a 48-31 win against Hennessey.  Meanwhile, Nowata is also 14-0 and is coming into tonight's game after a 20-0 shutout to OCS.  Kickoff is at 7 o'clock.  You can hear tonight's game on KRIG 104.9 FM starting at 6:30.  Adam Hooper and Tim Howell will have the call.

We also took some time to talk with players from the 1970 Nowata State Championship team this past week.  To read the full story and to see pictures from the 1970 Nowata Ironmen, click here.
