Nowata Pumping Iron in Preparation for Football Season

As KWON has previously the OSSAA does not plan to step in the way of fall athletic activities at its member institutions. This means high school football will begin practices on August 11 with games to follow on August 28.

At Nowata High School, Graham Snelding has been on the job for roughly three months and has been tasked with leading a program during tumultuous times. Snelding led the Ironmen through workouts and abbreviated seven-on-seven league as well. The countdown now begins for practices to get underway. Coach Snelding says work in the weight room has been key.

Snelding says 20-25 guys have been showing up on average for workouts. He expects to see better numbers once practices officially begin. The Ironmen had roughly 35 players out for the team in 2019. Nowata is set to open the season against Oklahoma Union on August 28.
