It’s a big day for Nowata basketball as the Ironmen will be hosting a regional on Friday.

Nowata will be taking on a tough opponent in Wyandotte as it looks to continue its postseason run.

The Irommen knocked off Caney Valley In the district playoffs last Saturday, 58-40. Wyandotte is a familiar opponent, as the Ironmen knocked them off in the semifinals of the NEO tournament 93-61 in early January. Ironmen head coach Gary Holinshed doesn’t think it will be that easy the second time around.

The Ironmen have a 19-4 record on the regular season. All of those losses have come to teams of a higher classification.

Coverage of the Ironmen and the Bears in regional action can be heard on KRIG 104.9 FM. Tip off at 8:00 PM on Friday.

We have other area teams in Nowata  as well – The Oklahoma Union and Caney Valley boys will play an elimination game at 5:00 PM. The Nowata, Oklahoma Union and Caney Valley girls are also all in action in Nowata on Friday.

The Dewey boys have their first round game in the 3A Regionals also – the Bulldoggers will take on Millwood at 8:00 PM in Glenpool on Friday.
