Nowata Basketball went on the road on Tuesday and came away with a blowout win over Hominy, 60-36. The Ironmen came out of the gate hot as they hit six three-pointers in the first quarter to build a 22-8 lead. Sophomore Mark Price hit five of the three-pointers and tallied 19 points in the opening period.

The Ironmen defense stifled the Bucks for much of the game. Nowata’s midcourt press created several turnovers. Hominy went without a field goal for a seven-minute stretch in the second quarter. Nowata’s lead expanded to 35-11 at halftime.

Price didn’t play much of third quarter, but he put the cherry on top of his performance with this long range three-pointer.

22 points for Price is a new career high. The Ironmen play a bevy of games in the next week starting with Dewey on Friday, Welch on Saturday, and then the beginning of the Ty Hewitt Memorial Tournament on Monday.

Nowata is now 1-1 on the season.
