It was homecoming for the Pawhuska Huskies and Lady Huskies as they took on area rival Nowata Ironmen and Lady Ironmen.  Huskies led for most of the game and won 58-54 while the Lady Ironmen won 55-31.

The Lady Ironmen jumped out early and never looked back.  Nowata led 22-14 at halftime and outscored Pawhuska 33-17 in the second half to improve to 9-7 for the season.  Reva Smith and Kennedy Downing led Nowata with 13 points each while Mamie Tiry came off the bench and finished with 10 points.  Lady Huskies were led by Star Sweeden's seven points.

The boys game turned out to be ugly at times, but physical.  Pawhuska took advantage to Nowata's poor start, despite the Huskies getting into foul problems, led at halftime 23-20.  The Huskies took a 39-27 lead going into the fourth period and that's when Nowata would attempt to comeback.  The Ironmen outscored Pawhuska 27-19 and at times had opportunities to tie the game.  The Huskies would make their free throws down the streach and stun the Ironmen.  At times, things got heated when Nowata's coach Gary Hollingshed and Pawhuska's coach Mark Frey would exchange words concerning Nowata's Michael Velasco.  He left the game in the third period after what Hollingshed thought that one of the Pawhuska's players try to hurt Velasco on purpose.  Another issue came late in the game as Hollingshed questioned about a timeout and never could get an answer from Pawhuska's score table.  Two differences in the ball game was that Nowata went 4 for 18 from the free throw line and despite Pawhuska getting the victory, didn't make a three-pointer. Pawhuska's JR Young led with 17 points.  Nowata's Zen Callahan led with 17 points while Cody Smith and Dalton Carter each had 11 points a piece.

Pawhuska travels to Perry on Friday while Nowata hosts Chouteau on Friday.
