Nowata Beats Adair in Area Tournament
The Nowata Ironmen survived and advanced in the Area Tournament Thursday afternoon with a 72-58 win over Adair. The game was played at Cleveland.
Adair led for most of the first half and took a 32-31 halftime lead. Nowata got things going late in the third period and lingered on into the fourth quarter. Nowata outscored Adair 24-12 in the fourth quarter to pick up their 17th victory of the season. The Ironmen attempted 39 free throws, making 29, while Adair went 9 of 18 from the line. Michael Velasco and Cody Smith led with 18 points a piece and Jaden Gilliland came off the bench and finished with 16 points.
