Nowata Advanced To 2A State Championship
The Nowata Ironmen football team will play for the Class 2A State Championship next week after a 20-0 shutout to Oklahoma Christian School Saints Friday night at Owasso. Defense dominated Nowata in the entire game not giving the Saints any opportunities to score. Nowata scored on their second drive when Wyatt Sanders scored on a 28-yard run to take a 7-0 lead. The score would stay that way until in the third quarter when quarterback Wyatt Steigerwald found Bryce Bell for a 72-yard touchdown reception on a three-play 80 yard drive. Nowata sealed the deal in the fourth quarter when once again Steigerwald found Bell on a 25 yard touchdown pass. With the victory, Nowata improves to 14-0 and will go the Class 2A State Championship game for the first time since 1999 when Fairview beat the Ironmen for the title. Nowata will play Davis for the title Friday, December 12th at Stillwater High School. Kickoff is set for 7 P.M. You can hear the game on KRIG 104.9 FM starting at 6:30 P.M.
