The Oklahoma Union boys’ team has no time to relax despite rolling into the 2A area finals at 3-0. The fifth-ranked Cougars will play No. 1 Dale with a state tournament bid on the line on Friday at 8 p.m. OKU will get a chance to rest and prepare after playing three games last week in district and regional playoffs.

The Cougars knew that Area II was particularly tough with five teams ranked in the top 12 in 2A all playing for two state tournament spots. OKU head coach Lee Ott on Friday’s big matchup.

Saturday’s 66-44 win over Nowata was the first game all season that the big four of Kade Hollingshed, Jace Hollingshed, Nate Collier and Dillon Ellis were all in double-figures. It also represented the third straight 20+ point win of the postseason for the Cougars.

The area tournament will be played in Fort Gibson--a place the Cougars have played a tournament at each of the last two seasons. OKU suffered its only loss of the season to 4A Hilldale in the first round of the Old Fort Classic on January 21.

The Cougars are looking for their first state tournament appearance since 2005.
