No-Hitter Closes Out OKWU Regular Season

Oklahoma Wesleyan ended the 2018 regular season with a bang on Saturday.

OKWU swept Ottawa in a double-header 3-1 and 12-0. The 12-0 contest was a seven-inning ballgame, in which Eagle starter Kyle Fimbrez threw a no-hitter. Fimbrez tossed seven scoreless innings. He struck out 10 and walked none.

The only thing that kept Fimbrez from having a perfect game was a solitary Eagle error that allowed one man to reach.

The no-hitter puts an exclamation point on what has been an outrageous year for the Wesleyan pitching staff. The Eagles still lead the country with a gaudy 2.35 ERA.

With the wins on Saturday, No. 5 Oklahoma Wesleyan (47-6) took the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference title outright, and also earned an automatic berth into the NAIA National Tournament.

OKWU will again host Ottawa in the first round of the KCAC tournament, which starts on Wednesday in Great Bend, Kansas.
