New Season, New Coach for Doggers

A new era of Dewey football is finally set to begin. The Doggers open the 2019 season with a home game against Adair on Friday. Dewey has lost each of its three previous season openers to the Warriors. That includes a 60-0 walloping last year when current DHS head coach Trent Turner served as Adair offensive coordinator. The first-year head coach says he knows the talented Warriors well, but the team isn’t flawless.

Dewey is coming off a 2-8 season in 2018 after facing three state semifinalists in total, including Adair. The Doggers do bring back some experience with Kale Carner at quarterback. Newcomers Hayden Thornton, Colby Henley and Cayden Baughn are all expected to touch the football quite a bit. Turner says this year the Doggers have better athletes that will help them compete with the tops teams.

No radio coverage for the Doggers this week. Kickoff from Bulldogger Stadium is set for 7 p.m.
