High school sports are officially over - this week BartlesvilleRadio.com will be taking a look back on some of the highlights of the 2017-2018 school year.

Each day the rest of this week we will focus on a team that did something outstanding over the course of the year.

Today’s team is 2017 Barnsdall football.

The Panthers reeled off a four-game win streak to begin the season, and ended the year on a three-game win streak to make the Class A playoffs. Barnsdall eventually fell to Talihina in the first round of the postseason 58-21, despite leading that game early.

Barnsdall was hit with a rash of injuries midway through the season, leading Panther fans to wonder what might have been without them.

Jacob Kelley, a possible division one type wide receiver missed the majority of the season. Head coach Kylee Sweeney talks about the hit that losing Kelley provided.

Even without Kelley, Barnsdall finished with a 7-4 record in 2017. It was also the senior season for starting quarterback James Cole. Cole now holds every major passing and rushing record in Barnsdall history after an illustrious career.

The Panthers return 14 of their 22 starters from last year for the upcoming 2018 season.
