LaRue Looking For Consistency in Double-A

Former Dewey High School pitcher Carson LaRue has hit a bit of a bump in the road during his first full season at Double-A in the Houston Astros organization. LaRue currently holds a 1-2 record and a 6.00 ERA in nine appearances for the Corpus Christi Hooks.

LaRue did earn his only win of the year in a recent outing against Midland where he tossed five innings of one-run ball. Earlier this month LaRue had a tough time in his return to Northeast Oklahoma earlier this month as he pitched against the Tulsa Drillers and at ONEOK Park. The right-hander gave up five runs and record just one out.

LaRue pitched one season at Oklahoma State in 2015 before transferring to Cowley County College for the 2016 season. LaRue dominated at Cowley as he posted an 11-1 record while striking out 133 hitters in 102 innings. This led to the Astros selecting LaRue in the 14th round of the 2016 MLB Draft.

LaRue is slated to start again Thursday at Midland.
