The Oklahoma Wesleyan Lady Eagles opened up conference tournament action with a convincing victory over Kansas Wesleyan, 86-to-74.

The game was tight early on with both teams shooting the ball very well from the floor. OKWU saw momentum break its way on the final play of the quarter with Cheyenne Been converting a miracle three at the buzzer.

The Lady Eagles pulled away in the second quarter stretching their lead to ten-point by halftime. Senior guard Tiffany Rieger put on a shooting display in the first half as she knocked all seven of her attempts leading 17 points at the break.

The lead would extend to 20 at one point in third quarter and the Lady Eagles would cruise to the win after brushing off a late Coyotes rally.

Rieger finished the game with 21 points. She would be outdone by Been who finished with 23 points to tie a career-high. Freshman all-conference selection Danae Goodwin had 20 points for the first time in her career as well.

With the win the Lady Eagles advance to the semifinals of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. They will host the No. 7 seed Tabor on Saturday at 2 o’clock.
