Four Bartlesville volleyball players had their Senior Night Tuesday evening. Those Lady Bruins (Sydney Potts, Annie Southwick, Presley Burch and Kaitlyn Smith) had their parents walk them onto the floor Tuesday evening. Randy Bluhm had the honor of announcing the names of the seniors, their memories, and what they planned on doing with their future.

As for the game itself, the lady Bruins took on the Sapulpa Lady Chieftains. The Lady Bruins won in three sets, sweeping the Chieftans. Coach Tom Williams said the quiet leaders of the team had a good win in their final home game with the team.

In the first set, the Bruins kept the lead until Sapulpa notched it up at 14. Junior Olivia Hadrava revamped the Lady Bruins as she had a kill that put the Bruins up 16-14. Senior Annie Southwick followed up Hadrava by getting an ACE to put Bartlesville up 21-16. The Lady Bruins took the first set 25-18.

The second set saw the Lady Bruins go down early to the Chieftains, but Bartlesville would rally to win 25-21. 7 kills helped the Lady Bruins comeback as junior Brooke Bluhm and Hadrava had two kills a piece. Freshman Mia Otten took the cake though as she had 3 kills in the second set. Otten and Bluhm tied for kills in the game as they walked away with 5 kills each.

Coach Willams had a classy move in the third set as he put senior setter Presley Burch into the game to serve. In her quick outing, she gave the Bruins a 3-2 edge on an incredible ACE.

The crowd went mad after her short two serve stint on the floor.

She was cleared to serve for Bartlesville on Monday and hadn’t played since May. Burch had missed most of the season due to a knee injury. Bartlesville deflated a bit after Burch’s outing however as they went down 13-17 quick. But once again the Bruins would rally on three Lydia Knollmeyer kills as she came alive in the third set and Hadrava would get her fourth kill in the game to give the Lady Bruins the 25-23 set win.

The 6-19 Lady Bruins head to the Stillwater Invite in Stillwater, Oklahoma Friday with the games starting at 9 a.m. In their pool, the Lady Bruins will face Deer Creek, Oklahoma Storm, and Union. Coach Williams says nothing is impossible but the toughest team will be Deer Creek since they’re in the top 5.

There is little over a week left in the regular season in the regular season for 6A volleyball as it will wrap up on Oct. 4. Regionals will be on Oct. 9.
