We had a busy weekend of basketball both in our area, and statewide and Bartlesville High was no exception.

The Bartlesville girls’ team won a tough tournament in Fort Gibson, while the Bruin boys went 1-2 in their Kansas City Tournament and took sixth place.

First for the Lady Bruins, they beat Fort Gibson and then Midwest City on Friday and Saturday to claim the “Old Fort Classic” championship.

BHS beat Midwest City 54-36 in the finals for its 15th straight win to begin the season. The Lady Bruins are 15-0 and they await a huge matchup with Sand Springs pn Tuesday evening at Bruin Fieldhouse in the Frontier Valley Conference play.

The Bartlesville boys lost in the fifth place game of the Saints Classic to Washburn Rural on Saturday 56-40. The loss drops the Bruins to 5-10 on the year.

Both BHS teams have eight regular season games remaining, with six of them coming at home over the next four weeks. KWON will have coverage of all of them – Starting with Tuesday night’s double-header against the Sandites on AM 1400 and FM 93.3.
