The Bartlesville High girls’ basketball team suffered its first loss of the season on Thursday night, losing to Sand Springs in the Area Championship game in Claremore.

The Lady Sandites topped the Lady Bruins 50-42. BHS drops to 25-1, and is still alive in the 6A playoffs.

Bartlesville led by five at halftime, but Sand Springs came out of the gate in the third quarter on a mission, and led throughout most of the second half. Bartlesville would respond to tie it with six minutes left in the game on this Jena' Williams and-one.

BHS did not score for more than five minutes late in the fourth quarter, and that allowed Sand Springs to pull away for the eight-point victory. The Lady Bruins will now play for their season on Saturday afternoon against Shawnee. Shawnee topped Norman North in their elimination game on Thursday night, 50-36.

That game will be played at 3:00 PM at Daniel Webster High School. We will broadcast it on KWON – AM 1400 and FM 93.3.
