Lady Bruins Area Tournament

High school basketball regionals wrapped up on Saturday – and we have a few teams locally headed to area tournaments.

One of them is the Bartlesville High girls. The Lady Bruins lost at Putnam City West, 54-47 in their Regional title game on Saturday afternoon. BHS had the game tied at 38 early in the fourth quarter before PC West would separate a bit down the stretch. This three-pointer from Erin Shoemaker would draw Bartlesville within two in the final five minutes.

That is as close and the Lady Bruins would get. The loss for Bartlesville moves BHS to the consolation bracket of the 6A East Area tournament.

The Lady Bruins will need to win two games in a row this weekend to head to state. Bartlesville will face Owasso in an elimination game at 8:00 on Thursday at Will Rogers High School. If BHS could win that – Bartlesville would play for a chance at making the state tournament against the loser of Booker T. Washington and Sand Springs. That game would be at 1:30 on Saturday – once again at Will Rogers High School.

The Lady Bruins took two of their three games against Owasso in the regular season. Most recently Bartlesville beat the Lady Rams 56-51 in Owasso on Feb. 7.

AREA BRACKET

We will have coverage of the Lady Bruins in the 6A Area Tournament this week on KWON - AM 1400 and FM 93.3.

More on the BHS girls in the 6A Area Tournament later on this week.
