Bartlesville High girl’s golf is state tournament bound after a tremendous performance on Wednesday in the East-side 6A Regional in Broken Arrow.

The Lady Bruins took third as a team, and will advance all five of their varsity golfers to state next week at Earlywine Golf Course in Oklahoma City.

BHS shot a 343 as a team, topping clubs that had given Bartlesville fits earlier this year in Owasso, Bixby, Union and others.

Senior Emma Shelley again led the way, winning the tournament by two strokes. She shot a 72. Shelley has now finished in first place in six of the seven varsity events she has competed in this season.

It was the improvement of the Lady Bruins younger golfers that made the difference. Three BHS golfers had sub-90 rounds with Madeline Lewis and Lisa Brown both shooting an 89. Presley Parks had a 93 and Alli Wood shot a 106. Three weeks ago, in preparation for Regionals, head coach Terry Hughes said he thought his club had a real chance.

Shelley will try to be the second individual 6A State Champion in a row for BHS, after Faith Hopkins won the event last year at Hillcrest Country Club in Bartlesville.
