Kansas Wesleyan Take Two From OKWU

Kansas Wesleyan University started the four-games series on a high mark Thursday afternoon at Doenges Stadium as they swept Oklahoma Wesleyan University by the scores of 7-6 and 4-1.

In the first game, the Eagles led 3-1 going into the top of the fifth when KWU came back, scored a run in the fifth, four runs in the sixth, and one run in the top of the ninth.  The Eagles rally fell short as they scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth to fall in game one.  CJ Gregory, despite of striking out 10 batters got the loss.  Scott Weaver and Trevor Archenbach each finished with two hits a piece.

In the second game, the Eagles bats were cold as they managed just five hits.  KWU out hit the Eagles 11-5.  Alex Martinez took the loss on the mound.  In seven innings of work, Martinez gave up four runs on 11 hits and struck out six.  Sean Baumes went 2 for 3 at the plate, while Weaver, Will Price, and Ryan Jones each got a hit.

Both teams are tied for fourth place in the KCAC with a 19-15 records.  Games three and four will be played Friday at Noon.  The winner will most likely finished fourth in conference play.  Friday's games will be played at Doenges Stadium.
