High school basketball makes its long awaited return around the area on Friday night and a rematch of a regional rivalry tops the slate. After defeating Barnsdall at home on Dec. 17 Nowata will head to Osage County with a season sweep on its mind.

A 31-point performance from Mark Price led the Ironmen to a 77-52 victory over Barnsdall in the first meeting. Nowata’s defense also held the Panthers scoreless for a six-minute stretch in the second half. Ironmen head coach Gary Hollingshead sizes up the opponent.

Nowata owns a four-game winning streak coming out of the break. The Ironmen are 6-1.

Barnsdall is just 2-3 thus far. The Panthers have struggled to get buckets consistently with 55 points being the team’s highest point total on the season. First-year Panthers head coach Wade Corder wants to see improved effort on the defensive side against Nowata.

You listen to the first radio broadcast of 2020 on KRIG 104.9 FM. Coverage begins at 8 p.m. from Barnsdall.
