Ironmen Head to Beggs for Playoff Battle
The Nowata Ironmen also face a tough task against a top-tier opponent as it travels to Beggs for a first round matchup. Nowata returns to the playoffs for the first time since 2016 and is seeking its first postseason victory since its run to the state finals in 2014.
Getting to the postseason was half the battle for the Ironmen after their recent struggles. Nowata’s 5-2 district record showed that the improved as the season progressed. The Ironmen know it will be a challenge against the defending 2A state runner’s up. Nowata head coach Chris Messner gives a scouting report on the Golden Demons.
The Ironmen will need to control the clock to pull an upset. Nowata has the ground game to do it as well as it has rushed for nearly 2,500 yards on the season. Beggs is 8-2 on the season and a consensus top-10 in the rankings. The Golden Demons lost last week in the 2A-3 title game to No. 1 Sperry.
