It has been a time of transition once again for Nowata Football as new head coach Chris Messner continues to assimilate himself in the program. Messner served as an assistant under former head coach Bob Craig in 2018 and will keep some of the things he learned from the veteran coach.

For the second consecutive season the Ironmen will participate in ‘Night of Champions’, this year it will celebrate all Ironmen fall sports and activities. At 5 p.m. on Friday the community will be given a chance to meet all of the athletes and celebrate Ironmen pride.

On the field, Nowata has been working hard to condition themselves for the 10-week grind that will begin at the end of August. Messner is excited about the running back position in particular. That group will have great depth especially with the return of Jace McKisson who was injured on the first drive last season.

With a fully healthy squad Dillon Barnes will slot in at fullback. Brayden Humphries is another player expected to compete for touches in the Ironmen backfield. Nowata will begin practices on August 12.
