After a long conversation around re-districting in the Oklahoma City area the OSSAA has released the football districts for 2020-21 and 2021-22. The new districts saw several area teams moving around.

The biggest story locally is Dewey and Nowata will now line up in 2A district 8. The rivals will now square off with more on the line than just the Adam Hooper Trophy. Dewey head coach Trent Turner is excited to see the stakes being raised further.

Rejoice Christian, Sperry, Adair, Salina, Kansas and Claremore-Sequoyah are the other teams in the district. The Doggers will play Miami, Quapaw and Vinita in the non-district season.

In Class A, Pawhuska and Oklahoma Union will play in the regular season for the next two years in A-5. The Huskies knocked OKU out of the playoffs last season. Caney Valley will drop to A-6, a seven-team district covering the east central part of the state. The Trojans went 1-19 over the last two season in 2A.

Barnsdall will drop to Class B 8-man football after a run to the Class A quarterfinals. The Panthers will travel quite a bit with the likes of Garber and Yale sharing slots in B-7. Wesleyan Christian, Copan and South Coffeyville remain in Class C.

Also, of note Bartlesville will stay in 6A-II District 2. Choctaw will be a new district opponent for the Bruins. The full list of new football districts is also available here.
