The Doenges Ford Indians won their second game of the 2019 season, while also giving a game away on Friday afternoon at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium.

Bartlesville split a double-header with the Ada A’s winning the first game 14-8, but letting a five-run lead wither away in the second contest in a 13-7 loss.

In game one, it was the Indian’s offense on display. Bartlesville scored early and often, including a five-run rally all with two outs in the second inning. One of the five runs for the Indian’s came in an improbable way, as Sean Sutton stole home for the fourth run of the frame.

Cole Ellis would finish off a complete game on the mound for a win. It was a workmanlike effort for Ellis, who gave up 15 hits over the seven frames, but stranded 12 A’s on base, including seven in scoring position.

Game two looked good early on, as well. Bartlesville had built a 7-2 lead into the top of the sixth when things started to unravel. Three Indian errors led to a five-run sixth for Ada, and a tie game.

Bartlesville could not muster any more offense, and the Indian’s ran out of gas. Ada struck for six runs in the top of the eighth for a 13-7 win.

Bartlesville is now 2-22-1 on the year, with the Glen Winget Tournament upcoming on Wednesday. Indian’s first game will air at 7:45 that evening against Kickapoo.
